The blog of my experiences, good and bad, with internet marketing. As I attempt to make money online.
Who are the good Gurus, who are just attempted clones.
If I catch someone in a lie or deceptive practice.
What to watch out for, how to protect yourself (if I can figure it out or find something to help).
Anything else I choose to write about.
Anyway, go here to see the sales page I'm using for this new method as I trial it out.

The product I'm selling here is 30 days of images you can post to begin building an Instagram account into the millions of followers.

There is a link on the product delivery page to get access to a tool to help you make more of these and I'll give you the URL to a website which makes it even easier for you if you ask for it.

Anyway, the real beauty of this isn't the offer, although that\'s pretty good, it's the way it's being presented.

As you can see the sales page is shared from Evernote, a free platform. The delivery page is also on Evernote and the zip files are delivered from Dropbox, also a free service.

The sale processing is handled by BuyMeACoffee.com which is also free to set up and use.

Oh, the product is a White Label product I have had on my disk drive for a while but it could be your product or a PLR product.

How do you promote something like this for free?

Drop into a bunch of FaceBook groups that are on the subject of your product and friend as many people as you can find who are engaged in the posts.

The share your Evernote page on your timeline, everyone who is friended will see it.

If you can you could also post on other people's timeline as long as they are happy with your promotion.

Simple? Definitely. Free? Definitely. Effective? Should be, depends on the offer, the sales page and the people you target.

In a nutshell, this is the simplest system I have found in years so it was definitely worth testing.

No results yet but the system isn't at fault with that. It could be the offer or the delivery but it's still worth testing and running with.

I'm also going to try sending traffic to the Evernote page from other sources to test the overall system but I see no reason that it won't work as well as any other system that you would have to pay big money for to get the domain name, hosting, page builder, delivery system etc.

Worth a try? Definitely.

Want to try it out for yourself?

This is really interesting, to me at least. What these are the products on my Pixels site which you can purchase from here directly.

Why is this interesting?

Well, driving traffic to the Pixels site will help me make sales, true, but it doesn't help any of my own web properties.

By being able to display and sell directly from my own site I can now drive the same traffic to my site and gain the benefit of that traffic as well as make the same sales, in the same way, as if from the Pixels site.

This is good, I have a whole bunch of other things I want to put on Pixels but was a bit reluctant.

Now it's a no brainer.
This post is really to test a theory of mine about using rss feeds on a website to generate traffic and keep the pages or posts fresh when you have too many sites to manage properly.

Why would I want to do this? Well, over the years I've been playing around here I have managed to accumulate 55+ domain names most of which are hosted, have Wordpress installed and some content as I went about testing various things.

There are three things I have been really crap at and these are the keys to making any money online.

One of these is keeping the sites updated with relevant content, I'll tell you the others at the end of this post.

Anyway, I was reading an article recently about how the big sites such as Facebook, Google, Amazon and others have stopped allowing people to access their sites via RSS.

I don't know exactly why but it's possible that they didn't get any traffic from them but that's unlikely.

It's more likely, in my opinion, that other people were getting the traffic that they thought they should have.

Understand that these sites want your eyeballs on their pages direct so they can advertise directly to you.

They are not in the philanthropic mindset of helping lots of others make money despite the fact that they would not be as big as they are without all the little people helping them, they kind of forget that they got their traction by the efforts of other people promoting them.

I'm not going to tell you just yet what I'm doing but I will let you know if it does work out well or not.

Another thing I have been working on for quite a while is a way to programatically update a WordPress site without having to log into every site manually to do the updates. You can get more info on this at http://wpmaintenancerobot.com but you can't get the program yet as it's still in development. It is very close so sign up there for notification if you want.

OK, the other two things I haven't done which I should have been doing years ago.

Learn how to drive traffic and do it consistently. Actually it's not that hard to drive traffic, it's much harder to be consistent. The RSS feed thing should help with this.

Build a list of people who like what I talk about, there has to be 10 - 20 of you out there.
This is actually the biggest mistake I have made. With a list of readers you can drive traffic to any site you want with a single email.

If your list is big enough and responsive enough you don't have to worry about SEO or search engine updates because you have your own traffic source.

If you think about that for just a second you'll know I'm right. Where did you find out about the latest shiny object that you really just had to have? Probably not by searching in Google, probably via your inbox.

OK, I have a couple of other projects on the go at the moment, a software tool for finding all the free stuff available on Amazon, there's Gb of pdfs, movies, software etc. on thousands of subjects. Looking for content or PLR stuff, it's all there for the downloading. Coming to a website near you soon.

There other one is a complementary tool to help you do these searches in Google. I have one which works fine but it's only for Windows. I'm re-writing it to work on all desktops, tablets and mobiles. Again coming soon.

Time to get back to work.
Block Spam 100% with Spam-Killa - the Online Solution.
Block Spam Today
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13585355.post-16663840667302494872017-01-24T19:09:00.003+10:302017-01-24T19:09:59.519+10:30Hello again, This is the blog that time forgot.Well actually it's me who forgot.

I've been running around doing busy work but not achieving very much in the Internet Marketing space.

My Kindle book keeps selling steadily in low volumes which is to be expected as it's a pretty small niche market. You can find it here if you are interested in building an effective wire antenna bit of a mixed bag of reviews but the whole idea of writing the book was as a proof of concept and to make it easy for an unskilled person to build an antenna that works well.

Other than that though there are only very small drips of income from all my other fairly pathetic efforts.

However, I have decided that this year, 2017, I will make a focussed effort and make this work. I have motivation, I now have two grandchildren and both mothers will need to go back to work full time which is not the best for the grandchildren. Neither mother actually wants to go back to work but finances are too tight if they don't.

I also have a friend at work who really wants to make additional income and has been pestering me to show him how. Oh, and I need to prove to my darling wife that it really is possible to make good money on the Internet and I haven't just been wasting my time. 😉

So, I have been writing an instruction manual for them so that they can supplement their income from online sources rather than going to an office.

I have gathered all the resources that I have accumulated over the years, blown the dust off them, crawled through everything and checked for still active sites (most are dead), discarded everything which I know Google has blocked off and a whole bunch of things which are just plain dodgy.

Then I also eliminated everything which costs money to set up or run and everything which requires constant work to maintain.

Having done all this I have a fairly compact plan of attack. There is no need to:

agonise over picking a niche,

agonise over picking keywords,

write content,

buy traffic,

buy a domain name,

buy web hosting,

have any technical knowledge or skill,

build hundreds of links,

build an email list.

What I haven't done is write a program to do all this for them and I don't intend to. This is as close to the ideal simplified system that I could create and I think it's gunna be great.

Now I need to test it, fine tune it if required and pass it on to them. This may never end up as an ebook or an email course for sale because it's my belief that if you find something that works well you should milk it for all it's worth while it's still working.

Many of the systems I have bought on the past have had something missing and didn't work as advertised. Even the Done For You packages I've bought have failed to deliver even when I followed the instructions to the letter.

When this system proves to work as I expect it will and if I find that even with the small group I teach this to it continues to work fine and if the potential market is way too big for us to manage then, and only then, I might share this with a few more people.

You might notice that there is no way for you to leave an email address for notification if that happens so your only recourse is to keep an eye on this blog as this is probably where the announcement will be made.

You might like to leave a comment if you want to be notified.

Anyway, time to start the testing. Wish me luck.
Block Spam 100% with Spam-Killa - the Online Solution.
I’ve been using one for about a year now and I quite like the way it works. I got it under Beta and it has steadily been improving to the point that it is now quite useful. Check it out here .. MainWP.

The main reason given for using these tools is to speed up the process of looking after your various sites. Essentially you can do all of your site maintenance from on place.

Anything which helps you backup your sites and/or helps you do the required updates regularly is a good idea and helps protect you from hack attack.

This is what the WP Maintenance Robot does was well. The robot does this from your desktop though so you don’t even have to login to any site nor do you need to install anything on any of your Wordpress blogs.

Just set it going and go do whatever else you need to be doing. When it’s done you can get your reports, download the backups and your done.

Sorry, still not available right now due to the No Brute Force program development and the changes this brings to your blog.

That’s what I wanted to tell you about in this post.

The one thing that all of these, admittedly useful, dashboards miss out on is the one thing which stops most hack attacks in their tracks is to change the name of the login page.

It’s a simple thing for the hackers to point their hacking program at the wp-login.php page on your site and begin their attempts to break in. If you are using the default admin password then you have just cut their required workload in half so I’m assuming that you have stopped that one at least.

What the free No Brute Force program does is log into your blog host, not your blog, and renames the wp-login.php page to whatever you want it to be. You could call it Rumplestiltskin.php if you wanted, I wouldn’t recommend that one, or anything else you like. It will also make the required adjustments to all the other pages that are required to reflect the new name for your blog to continue to work correctly.

In addition the No Brute Force program modifies the original wp-login.php page to redirect the spammer/hacker attack back on themselves.

You can do this manually yourself if you wish but it’s much easier to use the program and faster.

There is a downside to this change. If you forget your new login page you’ll have to click on the login link on the front page, if it exists. Otherwise you might have to have a look on your hosts file list. Typing in http://myblog.com/wp-admin/ will also redirect to your new login page.

Unfortunately every time your Wordpress site is upgraded the wp-login.php is also upgraded and this removes your protection. It’s a simple matter to run the program again and restore your protection but you will need to do this for each upgrade, even the automatic ones.

This is the functionality that I am writing into the Wp Maintenance Robot, this will need to have a monitoring script added to make sure that your protections are maintained.

There is one other thing you must install on your blog, the Wordfence plugin is the best additional security you can add to your blog. Have a look at this video to find out how to set it up.

Pretty easy isn't it? Do it, this is your blog's protection we are talking about here which is all your hard work. Don't let some scumbag steal your traffic or content.

I deliberately wrote cheque in the English, Australian and New Zealand way because this post is for for them and those who get royalty or affiliate cheques from US based companies drawn on US based banks.

Recently I deposited an Amazon cheque at my local branch of a well known bank. Â I had kept this particular cheque on the refrigerator for nearly 6 months because I wanted to show it to several friends. Â Not because it was a big one, it was about $120 USD, but because I have been trying to encourage them to write for the Kindle platform and I wanted to show them proof that there was some money available.

Here in Australia a cheque is usually good for about 13 months before it becomes ‘stale’ and then it becomes a bank’s discretion as to whether they accept it or not. Usually not.

In the USA it’s 6 months. Now I had checked on this and knew the limit so I took the cheque into my local branch with 28 days to go.

A week later it arrived back in my mail box.

The hand-written note with the cheque said that it wouldn’t get to the USA in time to be cleared. What? 28 days is not enough time?

Anyway I emailed Amazon and told them my story and asked them to re-issue the cheque. Â Seriously the best customer service I have had from a large American Internet company in years.

I had an email back within days with an agreement to re-issue the cheque. Â In about a week I had the new cheque in my mail.

I also had another cheques from Amazon so today I took them both to the bank.

After depositing the cheques I asked about the one that was knocked back and the answer is that it takes a month to go through the International Clearing house, the slow mail to the USA, their clearing house and finally the USA bank.

The message is clear, bank the cheque as soon as you get it. Â At the very latest get it into the hands of your bank within 5 months of getting it.

If you want to show it off, take a photocopy.

Block Spam 100% with Spam-Killa - the Online Solution.

I was asked this question privately after my last post, see here, and decided that a quick response was appropriate.

This is my definition, you may not agree with me leave a comment if that's the case, linkbait is only to get other people to link to your site. Click bait on the other hand does that but also encourages people to click through to find out more.

In my mind the difference is one is just for SEO purposes but the other also carries a benefit to the viewer.

I watched an interesting video recently about linkbaiting. The author of the video said that he found that linkbaiting didn't work consistently for his blog posts and he felt that ultimately he was doing damage to his brand.

He was using deliberately provocative headlines such as "Find out which three things you must do to get traffic."

I agree that this type of linkbaiting starts to smell of hype fairly quickly and your credibility goes out the window nearly as fast. It may be a mistake on my part but I generally don't even try to write blog posts with SEO in mind so the titles are meant to let you know what the post is about.

Hypy headlines and titles are out. Good content and information is in. The next trick is to use good images in the posts that are the click bait.

Google also indexes the images on your posts and they link back to you so don't neglect the image.

I hope this helps calrify this for you. Comment?
Block Spam 100% with Spam-Killa - the Online Solution.

The very clear instruction is to create compelling content for people which they can link to or share either on their web sites or on social media. There are lots of ways to do this but the fastest is to use the most popular shareable items on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter etc.

What is the most shared item? Images with pithy quotes, cute images, images of kittens, puppies, ducklings or any baby animal really or videos of these same things. Is there a pattern coming through here?

What I will show you is how to use free resources to create a click bait image which you can post on your website, share on Facebook, pin etc. As part of the tutorial I’ll also use free resources ad show you how to make multiple versions of the output which you can also share.

I started on Google Drive and made a presentation slideshow which I saved as a pptx and as a pdf. In the process of making the slideshow I also made a video of me making a click bait image with a quote. I posted the pptx to AuthorStream.com

<div 11px="" arial="" font-size-adjust:="" font-size:="" font-stretch:="" font-style:="" font-variant:="" font-weight:="" line-height:="" none="" normal="" quot="">
and slideshare.com.

This is from slideshare.

I also saved the slideshow as a pdf.

Then I used Camtasia to create a video for YouTube because I have run out of credits for AuthorStream. The video is here.

But the subject of all of this is the click bait image so here it is

What I will do with this is post it to Facebook and Pinterest and then link to both.

My links are really just the kickstart for the traffic but the real traffic comes from the sharing.

How to make money writing articles online.

If you feel like this poor lady and are searching for a way to make some additional money by using the Internet you might be interested in writing articles.

Even in a busy mothers life there is room to write a short article or two. All you need to do is find about an hour on a semi-regular basis and you could be making a little additional money in a matter of weeks.

If you are thinking, ‘I don’t have the time', 'I don’t know what to write about', 'I haven’t written anything since college’ or similar thoughts then please stay with this while I show you how you can write for pay.

Most of us are time poor these days, we seem to need at least 27 hours in every day and we still don’t get everything done we want to get done. As far as I can determine in my own life it’s simply because I don’t say No often enough.

I agree to do this, that and the other thing when I don’t have the time to do the things I want to do particularly the things which will impact my income. I found I had a lot more time to use the way I want to use it when got in the habit of not agreeing with avery request. The best way to do this is not to say No but to say ‘Can I get back to you on that?'

Now you’re taking control of your time without being firm, what some people would call rude. By not agreeing immediately most of these requests will be redirected to someone else or forgotten completely.

What to write about? Â

Do you have a hobby? If so there’s a good place to start otherwise you can write about how you budget, the recipe your kids like the best, where to get the best coupons, how to pick a good piece of fruit or steak, what you chose the BBQ you did, why you chose the toys you bought the kids for Christmas. Everything you do can become an article and people will read them because they are just like you and want to know how to do these things.

Everyone knows more about one or more subjects than a whole lot of other people, you write for them not those who know more than you, you read them for ideas.

Looking for more ideas? Go to Amazon and look at the kindle books available, look at the best sellers. Try the local book stores, look at the articles in the magazines at the checkout. Ideas are everywhere. You cannot get your article in front of everyone and nor can anyone else so there is a very good chance that the person reading your article hasn’t read the one that inspired you to write it.

In any case, your article will give a different perspective on the subject which may appeal to the reader better even if they have read the one which inspired you. Do not copy other peoples articles, that won’t help you at all but you cannot copyright ideas so you can copy other writers ideas, just not their writing.

Haven’t written for a while?

Yep, we’ve all been there as well. The skills are still in place though, it’s a bit like riding a bicycle or skating, once you learn you never really lose the skills so it doesn’t take long to get back into it.

We are not talking about writing an essay that will be marked by some academic either, you’re writing to your sister, your aunt, your mother, your brother, your uncle or your father. The spelling should be right and the grammar should be close enough but none of it has to be perfect, this is a conversation where you share something you think they might be interested in.

Just like this article ;-).

Where do you put your article to make money with it?

That actually sort of depends what you want to do. Many people want to create some sort of Internet presence so they set up a blog to post all their articles on. That’s what this is on. This is a free blogging platform that Google owns, all you have to do is sign up and start writing and posting your articles.

You could go to one of many free sites across the Internet and do essentially the same thing. I would suggest you start here at http://blogger.com because it’s very easy to get started. You can always change later if you want. If you already have a website, free or paid, then use that but just get going. Make money from these sites by adding affiliate links to sites which will pay you for sending them customers. I’ll talk about this in another post soon.

You can also make money by selling your articles on a whole bunch of different websites, check out this list of 101 sites to see the different ways you can do this.

If you put your articles on a site called Squidoo.com you can add links onto your page (called a lens in Squidoo talk) very easily and they’ll give you all the revenue. Another site which does the same is Hubpages.com. Both of these are free to join and use.

In summary:-

Can you find the time to write? Â Yes you can.

Can you find subjects to write about? Â Yes you can.

Can you write? Â Yes you can.

Can you make money writing articles online? Â Yes you can.

Give a go, you might just find that you love it and you do make sufficient additional money to make your life a whole lot easier.

Block Spam 100% with Spam-Killa - the Online Solution.

This is a tool which you install on your computer so that you can write your blog posts without actually opening a browser.

Why would you want to do this? There are many people who are accustomed to writing in some type of word processing software and are therefore more comfortable with using a program on their desktop than writing in the web browser. I don’t actually care too much about this aspect of a desktop tool, I’m much more interested in the other side of these tools.

The other reason to use one of these is because you can have access to all your blogs through the same interface. Â One tool to blog them all.

This means to me that I can write a post here on my Blogger blog, write another post for a WordPress blog and cross reference them right here on the desktop without having to flick backwards and forwards in my browser.

I can add images, format text and all those other things which you would expect to be able to do in a document.

I have had a play with about 6 or 7 today and none of them could connect with Blogger, despite all claiming to be able to. This is MarsEdit, it’s a paid program and I am using the free trial for this post. After all, connecting with Blogger is one thing, posting with a picture is possibly quite a different thing.

If this works I’ll probably pay them the money and use it extensively.

If you are reading this post on the Marketing Truths blog then it worked, I will not be posting this any other way.

Block Spam 100% with Spam-Killa - the Online Solution.
Most of them will also tell you that they need to generate the right sort of traffic, and they do. Mostly they want traffic which will interact with their site.

Surprisingly this isn't always buyers. Adsense sites don't really need buyers, they want volumes of clickers so those who are researching a subject are the right ones because they will click on an interesting ad. Buyers probably won't unless the ad specifically targets what they want to buy and that is a pretty poor trade for the webmaster.

Would you happily trade a $0.06 click for a $1.20 click or a $27 click? What about the other way around?

But you all know about that so what I am going to show you is how you can create a pdf to use to bring traffic to your site. Google can and does find links in pdfs and counts them towards your ranking. People also find your pdfs and follow the links if you craft them properly.

Why would you want to create a pdf for links? You can put the links you want in them with the anchor text you want, there is no real limit to the number of links you can put in but you will need to temper your enthusiasm with some sense.

The best way to put links in is to put them in the text, in the header and in the footer. You can put a copyright notice in the footer of every page which contains a url link to your site.

The header link will also be on every page so you can link using something like your site description or the description of what this pdf is about and link the whole header.

The in content links are the best of all. They are surrounded by relevant LSI content and have relevant anchor text. These can also link to different pages on your website because the other links go to your home page and/or the tag or subsection of your site.

All of these links are do follow because you put them there. They should also be set to open in a new page, just in case someone is reading your pdf in their browser.

Ready to make your first pdf for traffic?

What keywords do you want to target? Lets use this post for our example. The type of traffic I'm looking for are those who want more traffic, obviously, so I went to have a look at what keywords they might use. This is not a tutorial about choosing keywords so I won't go into why I chose the title I did but suffice to say this is a longtail keyword which can and will rank for a whole lot of low competition and good traffic keywords.

The title for my pdf is "how do i get more free traffic my website?". So that's settled.

Now to get the content. You can use any relevant plr content you have but I would suggest that you clean it up because this is mainly for the readers, the Google rankings are an added bonus. You can use any mmr content you have, grab articles from article directories or any other source you can think of. You could use websites but you cannot use someone else's website without their permission. If you do then Google will penalise you as they should.

Did you know that wikipedia doesn't just allow you to use their content, the actually encourage it and make it easy to do?

If you visit Wikipedia, search for the content you want and then click in the left column the link Print/Export then click on Create a Book. Go to the pages you want, click on the add pages button and then click on show book. Add your title, sub title, chapters etc then download in the format you want. At this stage I use ODF not pdf because I want to edit this. Leave in all the links they have included as proof that this is not just for SEO purposes ;-) but do emebed your links into the body text where it's appropriate.

Collect and collate your content, rewrite what you need to and put it into a single folder. Open it all in Open Office, your preferred wordprocessing package or some WYSIWYG package. Yep you can make a web page from all this.

Plug your links in where you want them and link to the relevant page, juggle the pages to make them read sequentially, Put your title in the header, link to your site url, Add your copyright to the footer and link to your site home page.

Happy with the result? OK, save it and then print it - as a PDF. Don't set any security settings, you want Google to be able to read it.

If you have a Mac this is built in, if you have a Windows based machine it may be built in or you may need to install something like CutePDF or search here for one you like. In Linux there are multiple ways to do the same thing, look in your repository.

If some of your content is already in pdf format that's fine, open it and print it in pdf format, then print your other content in pdf format without saving the other file. What this does is put all the documents into a single pdf file. You can move the pages around, add pages, remove pages until you are happy with the end result.

Save your pdf. Now we need to submit it to places where it can be found.

There are also a lot of paid products scattered across the Internet which claim to be able to unlock your PDFs for you, they all fail to do the one thing they seem to promise.

All of them are able to unlock the permissions to be able print or alter the PDFs but not to unlock the actual file if it is password protected for access.

When you try to unlock a PDF which is password protected for access using one of these tools they all ask you for the password.

I don't know how to get around this problem except for one simple way which works 100% of the time.

You still need to have the password but only the first time you open the file.

Here are the simple steps:-

Open the PDF using the password.

Print the PDF as a PDF using a tool like PDF Factory or similar, Mac users have this built in the print function.

In the settings save the PDF without any security.

Now you have a copy of the original file which is unprotected.

Too hard? I didn't think so.

Bottom line here, if you have the password you don't need the tools, if you don't have the password the tools can't help you.

After ignoring this poor old blog for a long time while I fluffed around the Internet doing all sorts of things I have decided to change it's reason for being.

This was originally started as my personal chronicle of what worked and didn't work with my Internet Marketing efforts.

Not much worked so there was not much to put here.

What I have found though is that I'm very good at finding new and interesting sites to explore, new ways of doing things. I am able to condense lots of comments and filter out what you and I need to know to keep things on track with out site building and traffic management.

So, this blog will still be about Internet Marketing - sort of - but will become a bit more focussed on what the trends that make sense are and how to take advantage of them.

As always most of the tools I will recommend will be free but some will be paid options. I'm putting you on notice right now that if I find a paid option which makes sense I will also try to find an affiliate link for it.

I trust that you are smart enough to understand that if you can buy something that will help you and you found out about it here then it is only fair that I get a 'spotters fee' for the recommendation.

This will not become a typical BS type site which only recommends stuff for sale as a lot of the commercial products are not much better than the free products and generally over priced.

I like and use as many free tools as I can find, I don't see why you should be denied the same opportunities.

This will also not become a freebie download site that is dripping with catches and tricks to suck you in. In fact I'll share with you what those sites do including how they wrap the product you want with their own rubbish which installs toolbars and other malware on your computer.

If you like what you find here then please bookmark the site and come back regularly, I'll try to post something at least weekly.

To get you started I have a freebie for you. This is a tool I wrote for my own use and works absolutely superbly. If you have a Wordpress site you need to use this.

https://www.facebook.com/NoBruteForce

What it does is change your wp-login.php page to a redirect page and creates a new login page for you with all the right code so that it works just like your normal WordPress login page should.

Why do you need this? The brute force attacks which have been going on for a year now can only attack the main login page. If it doesn't exist then you cannot be hacked on autopilot.

Works for Mac and Windows, free download, free to use, no limits.

Feel free to share the link with your friends, be nice, don't just steal it and pass it round.

Leave a comment if you would like me to review certain products that you like or just to say g'day.
I wrote about this some years back in my post about internet scammers and this mornings call was so familiar to the previous ones it was immediately clear what was happening.

No I will not be signing up at any price and I will be getting in touch with the people who sold them my details.

It's pretty easy to spot these scammers. First phone call is chatty and light with a few questions carefully placed to determine if you have any money, if you have any desire to make any money and what your desperation level is.

This is also where the lies begin. As an example, I was told by Sean that he had been recently talking with a "New York Times Best Selling Author" who was making more money a month than he (Sean) could imagine. I have chatted with NYT Best selling authors and know from them that that status doesn't necessarily translate into any significant money. Quite apart from the other part of the lie, what would an author who was financially successful even want to talk with a company about making money online? BS Sean.

I did the usual search for scam experience PMI and scam Professional Marketing International. Here are a couple of links you should read for other peoples stories.

http://www.utahconsumeradvocate.com/complaint-forum/professional-marketing-international-pmi/
particularly the post by roadmasterdog as he gives a list of company names they use.

So don't just take my word for it, do your own search and read some of the pages you find.

Now some advice, never give out your telephone number in any form online. It's the Internet folks, why do they need to know where you live or what your telephone number is? The only places I will do that is to use it for security confirmation for a signup like PayPal, Google or Facebook.

Give them the number for the local Consumer Affairs office, the local politician who you don't like, any Union Official, the local Police department, any of the pay-per-call phone services, or just 123456789.

For those of you who may be looking for a way to make some money online I will tell you what I'm doing which is working. I'm not making much money yet but it is actually working and it is repeatable and scaleable.

I have written a book in a very small niche market and have it selling on Kindle. This book took me less than 6 weeks to write and publish. It was initially published on CreateSpace which is also a Amazon company and it sold 1 copy in a year, I transferred it to Kindle and it sells a couple of hundred a month making me about $100 in royalties every couple of months. Like I said, not much but there are no costs involved in this.

I did buy into a training course with Geoff Shaw and the training is excellent. You can read about the writing of the book and the publishing on my other blog at http://bearlybooks.com/do-you-want-to-write-books-or-sell-books. I know that you understand that there is a cost to get the Kindle training but it is cheap and superb. If you buy through my link here I may get a commission on the sale, you are probably grown up enough to know that it doesn't cost you any more to use this link or another one.

The same thing with this other link I am about to give you. This is another training system which allows you to build whatever type of site you like. There is tons of guidance, a huge helpful community and all the support you could possibly want. This one is a bit more expensive but there is really only one annual fee and you can join for free, read all the info, hang out in the forum until you are ready to commit. Talking about freebies, here is one on how to write for the internet. I'm sure you'll find this useful even if you don't follow up with any of these other suggestions. Get it here.

Last one. Any of you have a WordPress blog? Those of you who do will recognise that there are lots of updates for the core software, the themes and the plugins. You need to keep all of these up-to-date which means you really need to check every few days and do the updates. This is a pain but necessary.

I have a solution for you. A free to download and use desktop program for Windows and Mac OS X which handles those updates for you. Just start it up every couple of days and run it, go do something else. Write a blog post perhaps? When you are done you can print out a report to file as a record of what you did when. You can also do backups and restorations with the same tool.

Yes it is free but only for a single site, if you want to use it for multiple sites, which you can, there is a small monthly fee. The site is WP Maintenance Robot.

There is an additional tool here as well. This is totally free as well. The program is called No Brute Force. It is also a desktop program for Windows and Mac OS X. No Brute Force is a security tool designed to change the name of your WordPress login page from wp-login.php to whatever you want it to be. It handles all the changes required to make this change work and makes a couple of other changes to protect your site from the brute force hacking which is going on across the world at the moment. Learn more at http://facebook.com/NoBruteForce.

I know wrote both of these programs and I have been helping with testing so I can tell you that they both work very well. At the very least download and use the freebies OK?
Block Spam 100% with Spam-Killa - the Online Solution.

I found an additional function in Marketing Samuarai which shows the MSN Commercial Intent thingy. While I'm not a huge fan of this tool as I pointed out on someones blog due to the sometimes quite flakey results it did show that the keywords I had targeted were very low in OCI.

As a result of this I have set up another test blog on a different keyword that shows a higher OCI. I didn't do it quite as thoroughly as the first one and I used a Blogger blog to host the site which limits some of the things I can do with it but it is at #34 and rising.

In the hunt for places to park a backlink I came across Traffic Python and joined as the promo is pretty good.

Having joined though I am wondering if the hype doesn't match the reality or if I just found it early. After checking with Alexa to see how long this has been around I can see that its only 6 months old so perhaps it need to age a bit. Anyway, the concept is good. I think it will only last for a couple of years at best, a bit like banners. When the general public have seen them a lot they'll stop clicking on them.

When was the last time you clicked a banner? However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't check it out and decide if it might help you get some traffic. You shouldn't ignore something because it might have a short lifetime, get in do it but don't make it your only source of traffic.

I found some rules for internet marketing that I think are worth sharing.

Post pages, get backlinks.

Google rewards persistence.

Test and Track.

If you have an under performing site and you can't make it go, sell it - and then monitor it so you can see what the buyer does with it, you might learn something.

Do you have any others to add?

Block Spam 100% with the Spam-Killa - The Online Solution.
Spam Blocking Tool
Block Spam 100% with Spam-Killa - the Online Solution.

Go do the 30 day challenge, it just might change the way you approach internet marketing.

Here is my experience so far. I registered the domain name, set up the site, added the first post and played with a tool called traffic bug, also a 30 day free trial through the 30 day challenge.

The next day I wrote a properly SEO post and added it to the blog, put a link to the site in the previous post. I also set up Google analytics and created an ad.

The next day I wrote another article and submitted it to Ezine Articles and another the next day which I submitted to Scribd. Before the Scribd article was online this site was in the Google cache and was at #3 for phrase match search on the keywords.

Today, after submitting the Scribd article I checked again and, for phrase match, my site is #1. So that's from new to #1 in 3 days. Now it will drop out again, probably, but I will keep adding articles and links so I expect it will come back in a week or so and be rock solid at #1.

The 30 day challenge, Market Samurai and traffic bug work folks. I haven't made any sales yet but my first natural search visitor clicked through on the ad so that's a 100% CTR at this stage. Let's see how the conversions go. I am expecting a high conversion rate because it is a low cost, high demand product.

So the site again is on sea fishing lures and you can check it out via that shameless plug. Then go check the 30 day challenge. I'll post when I make a dollar or atleast keep you updated on the progress of the site.

Block Spam 100% with the Spam-Killa - The Online Solution.
Spam Blocking Tool
Block Spam 100% with Spam-Killa - the Online Solution.

You know the stuff, you proabably are getting an inbox full of join our training program/membership site/blah blah blah and it'll only cost you $27/$97/$2,500 per month/per session. take our knowlege and make $37,456 in your first week, see how this plumber/deaf dumb unemployed surf bum/12 year old girl did it and you can do it too.

Some of these probably are good and maybe even worth the money but mostly they are just as big a scam as the Vanuity rubbish. Most of these people, even if they have made money online, really have no idea how they did it. It was mostly just dumb luck.

The 30 day challeng is very very different. For a start, it's all free. Even the programs that they suggets you use are free for at least the 30 days of the challenge. They also have produced a massive amount of training in both pdf and video format, there is an active forum and the moderators are also active on teh forum. They'll often get back to you within 12 hours of your question.

I must confess that I didn't pay much attention to this until about day 8 of the training when I came back to the site looking to see where they were up to and discovered what is possibly the best research tool available. It saves week and weeks of work.

If you join the 30 day challenge you will get a 40 day trial of this tool. What's it called? Market Samurai. An it'll help you find niches ripe for the plucking.

For example, anyone who has done any market research in the fishing market would realise that this is a huge market but also has massive competition. Without being able to to extensive research into the market you wouldn't find the micro-niche that I have found and set up a site to test.

Have a look at sea fishing lures, this is my newest site, currently has only one holding post but this will change over the next week. Yeah I know, don't show anyone your niche but you have to build links to the site at some stage. When you do you are showing your site to others. So what? That affiliates name is Andre Chaperon.

Today I found Andre Chaperon's website Affiliate Bully. Now before you all head over there I am going to give you a couple of links to something very special that Andre has done.

I'd like to tell you a bit about this first. Andre's page is about a number of tools which will help you create profitable adwords campaigns. Once they are profitable you can then leverage them into MSN and Yahoo campaigns and begin working on organic traffic etc.

The thing is, Andre really does have good information and brilliant tools but there is something very special which I am giving you links to, he has given two complete step by step ways to make money with free tools, Clickbank and Adwords. He shows how to pick good keywords, how to choose the product, how to set up the campaign, how to track your ROI and how to make your campaigns profitable. All for free, not even an email address as cost. And this is seriously good stuff. You could just visit his site, plug these two links into your favorites and visit regularly until you are making money.

OK, OK, the links are Affiliate Bully Reloaded and Clickbank Case Study and do your self a favor. Visit Andre, read the case study, follow the steps and finally make some money.

I have already set up one campaign using this information, I don't have the split testing set up yet but will manage that very soon, like today. I have tracking set up.

OK, I'm still using free tools for that. I use Google Analytics for lots of tracking, even on this blog and I am very pleased with the results. I am going to set up the split testing using Google website optimisation. I haven't used that yet so this is a good time to try it out. Seriously, check out this site and get stuck in this is one of those really good deals where you can make money with your internet marketing.

Those links again are Affiliate Bully Reloaded and Clickbank Case Study

Block Spam 100% with the Spam-Killa - The Online Solution.
Spam Blocking Tool

Block Spam 100% with Spam-Killa - the Online Solution.

World class copywriter, Trevor Crook gave me his
10 hours of Copywriting Blueprint audios, his proven blueprint for
creating compelling sales copy and letters which he usually sells
for $197.

Trevor gave it to me as a favor because he has started a
revolution to help one million entrepreneurs in the next 30 days
and you and get a brilliant gift to help you get more sales plus
you can help change history at the same time.

You do not have to buy anything. There's no gimmicks.

Too may people want to 'take' in today's world instead of giving
and this is a recipe for a complete disaster.

When you understand the 'Laws of Reciprocation' like I do, you will
understand how much your life will change when you give freely
of yourself without any thoughts of getting anything back in return.

Trevor has explained this in more detail and you can find out for
yourself and get Trevor's favor to you. When I first read Trevor's letter, I thought he was insane so I
would take him up on his offer to give you his copywriting blueprint
right now before he changes his mind.

Go to:

Pay it Forward

Block Spam 100% with the Spam-Killa - The Online Solution.
Spam Blocking Tool
Block Spam 100% with Spam-Killa - the Online Solution.

I have reservations about giving all that information 100% correctly so what I usually do is give a slightly generic address. It's still accurate but won't allow anyone to just arrive unexpectedly.

There are other issues quite apart from personal security.

What about the careless, thoughtless or inappropriate post? We all say and do stupid things sometimes. We are all blond for 5 minutes each day, don't exceed your limit (with apoligies to the blonds). With the internet any stupid mistake can live forever. This can come back to haunt you when, in a job interview, your prospective new employer asks about your thoughts on green house gasses or other ethnic groups?

Perhaps you had a bad day at work and you posted some comment about the boss doing something dumb, dodgy or illegal? Or you happen to mention that you think a fellow employee is cute, stupid, thick, good in bed. How's your job going to last and how do you think you'll get another?

The risks are huge, there is nothing private on the internet. Always post as if you are in a huge room with 30 million other people, some of whome are listening and reading but you don't know which ones.

Block Spam 100% with the Spam-Killa - The Online Solution.
Spam Blocking Tool
Block Spam 100% with Spam-Killa - the Online Solution.

Unfortunately for me I spent way too long reading. Jeremy, great site but I really need to be doing my own stuff OK? I'll be back but not tonight.

The site that directed me to Jeremy's site was this one link and there are some excellent ideas here.

A word of caution, you will never make any money online or off if you are not focussed. Here is another internet marketing secret, pick one market and work it until it makes money. If you keep chopping and changing chasing the fast easy money you will almost always fail.

If you manage to make any money with this it will be purely because you fluked it and you'll be almost certainly unable to repeat it, certainly not deliberately.

As far as I am able to identify most of the so called gurus are in this position, they fluked something that worked but they still don't know how or why.

I remember one guru that I actually paid to teach me how to make money online who didn't even complete the course of instruction and disappeared with my money. He called himself Mr. X, should have been enough warning for me but he came with a recommendation from The Internet Marketing Summit.

He fell into a system that made money for him but he was just lucky and was unable to repeat the same success with his next attempts so he tried to teach others but was unable to do that because he had no idea what he was doing.

Disclaimer: I am not a guru, I write about what I am learning, not all of it works consistently even for me. I think I'm getting closer though.

OK, here's a couple of other links for you. How to find extra money in your current finances. How to Generate Emergency Cash from the internet.

Keep at it folks, more coming.

Block Spam 100% with the Spam-Killa - The Online Solution.
Spam Blocking Tool
Block Spam 100% with Spam-Killa - the Online Solution.

If you spend all your time online reading emails and blogs you won't ever get anything done.

My advice to you would be to do the activities that will make you money first, then read the emails and blogs.

So what makes up the activities which make you money? Really only a few things, keyword research, get content, get links. If you do that you will make money. One other thing that will help. If you have one site which makes $5 per week you might think that you have failed. Not true, you have a successful site - now make another 1,000 sites like that and you'll be making $5,000 per week

I found this excellent blog post that you should read. 102 ways to get backlinks will open in a new window. Why read this, simple really if you don't get links to your site you won't get any traffic and I can prove that see this post and understand that the single most important thing you can do for your online marketing efforts is to generate backlinks to your site and to the pages within your site.

After years of following the "avoid the Google slap" and "how to trick Google" idiots I realised that Google actually loves you and wants you to make money. Not only that but they provide, free of charge, all the tools and information you need to find profitable markets and how to target them. They also provide you with the content that they like that you can use.

You don't need to buy tools, you don't need to buy traffic, you don't need to pay for hosting, you don't need to know how to build a website or any of that stuff. You probably will want to learn some of that later and you will want to have your own hosted websites later so you can sell them but you don't need any of that to get started.

Learn to find good markets, find out what keywords will bring the right type of traffic, write content similar to the pages listed high in Google for your keywords and get links.

Too hard? Then go do something else because this is the easiest and cheapest business model you'll find anywhere on the internet or off.

Block Spam 100% with the Spam-Killa - The Online Solution.
Spam Blocking Tool
Block Spam 100% with Spam-Killa - the Online Solution.

I would like to know what triggered the email so I don't do it again.

Now don't get me wrong here, I'm not complaining. I am quite happy that they are actively working on stopping the spam blogs and the auto blogging idiots.

I am confident that after they review my blog they'll accept that it isn't spam, it's just formatted differently to most. You can have a look at it here on my blog about beef jerky recipes, you'll have to click the link called continue because of the current block but you can get through and see the blog.

The difference is that, since I am aware that most visitors to any website don't scroll down the page at all, on this blog I am experimenting with putting the ad block above the fold. Does this make it a spam blog? I don't know but according to the rules of blogger I don't think so. The way I read it indicates that the main characteristic of a spam blog is lots of links and very little content. Because of the ad block there are lots of links at the top of the blog but there are full articles (200+ words) below the fold which are on topic and not keyword stuffed.

According to the Amazon ad block there are 18 links back to Amazon in that ad block so that is probably what triggered the problem. It'll be interesting to find out what the ruling is.

I'm off to make more backlinks to my sites. Seriously, this is probably the absolute best thing you can do to generate traffic. I saw a site today which has a #1 position in Google SERP for a very competitive key phrase which only has 16 links according to Alexa and the keyword phrase isn't even in the domain name.

Block Spam 100% with the Spam-Killa - The Online Solution.
Spam Blocking Tool
Block Spam 100% with Spam-Killa - the Online Solution.

The reason I was there is that I am setting up a new project and was looking to generate some backlinks for it. I wanted to write a couple of articles to plug links to the new project.

When I was there I thought I might check the stats on the other subdomains and discovered this.

The url is blocked out to protect the innocent. What this shows, for those of you who don't read their stats, is that the day I set the page up I triggered 8 hits. No-one has seen the site since 11th July 2008. Absolutely no traffic which shows exactly why you MUST HAVE LINKS TO YOUR SITES if you want any traffic.

On this domain I have several other sub-domains which have links and the total traffic to all the sub-domains and the main domain is around 10,000 hits per month.

So folks, traffic tip #2, create at least one link to your page or no-one will ever find it.

Remember traffic tip #1? Adwords links do not create backlinks or search engine rankings on their own.

In the interests of creating a link to my new properties, which actually already have links 'cause they're in the menu, this is the page I was building recipes for Beef Jerky and this is what is called a contextual link.

Apparently the search engine robots like these because they are part of the content of the page. This link would carry more weight if the content was also about beef jerky or recipes but it isn't. The bots will follow the link though and find the new page.

Because there is a menu structure on the site the bots will also find all the other pages but not the sub-domains if there are no links to them, as you can clearly see from the graph above.

Block Spam 100% with the Spam-Killa - The Online Solution.
Spam Blocking Tool
Block Spam 100% with Spam-Killa - the Online Solution.
Block Spam Today
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13585355.post-36774026055257412952009-06-03T12:33:00.005+09:302009-06-03T13:30:02.725+09:30How to make Money on the Internet.I am still learning this stuff after all these years but I am beginning to have some understanding of what is actually required.

For example, despite the claims of companies like Omni Business Solutions and other thinly disguised scams, you don't need to spend large amounts of money to make money.

You may need to spend some but in general you can begin to make some cash before you have to re-invest some of that back to leverage your income to greater heights.

You will need a website but these are available for free, click on this link car auctions above to see one I made last night for no cost to me at all.

Now I need to do more work here but that is a good start. As you can see I have set this up as an affiliate site which means that I don't have any product creation costs or any customer issues. It is also a slightly modified Blogger blog and you can get the information on how to set these up at this site.

So what do you really need to make money? You need a group of people who want to buy something, you need to be able to supply that something and then you need to be able to let that group know how to find your something.

Seriously, that doesn't look too hard does it? And it isn't. What goes wrong then? How come so few people are making any money online? After a couple of years of only making a dribble of income I think I can give you a few clues.

I fell for the line that it was hard work, I fell for the line that I needed to buy that latest wizz-bang product, I fell for the Vanuity/Omni Biz solutions BS but more importantly I didn't used that neck-top computer and actually look at what was really required. In short, I over analysed all the information I was fed and failed to see the truth.

The unvarnished truth is what I wrote just above, you need potential customers, you need a product and you need targetted traffic.

The Devil, as they say, is in the details. In this case the details are also simple. You really need to get the book from Geoff Shaw, this is the simplest, cheapest and fastest way to profit I know. I have been using these methods for a little over 4 months now and I am totally impressed. I have taken a blog from almost no traffic (around 20 visits per month) to significant traffic (around 20,000 visits per month) and another from 5 per month (on a good month) to 80,000 per month in the same time frame. Geoff explains it simply, with examples, in his book Get Google Smart.

What you'll discover is that getting traffic and backlinks are so simple and easy that you'll have ample time on your hands for surfing the net, chatting in forums and still make money. Geoff shows you what he is doing right now to create a new $200,000 per year income, no sneaky hidden tricks or getting all his 'Guru" buddies to promote stuff for him. Actually I'm not sure he even has any 'Guru' buddies.

Adding a bit more detail, do keyword research to find out what people are looking for - Google can help you here for free, find a product which satisfys those people, try Clickbank, PayDotCom, CPA offers etc., set up a free landing page, use a free Blooger blog, send visitors, Google can help you here as well and I'm not talking Adwords.
